Does Practice Make Perfect?

Church Staging

The simple answer is yes!  Well, at least as far as the famous Hallé Orchestra is concerned and their beautifully restored Grade 2 rehearsal, recording and event venue, the Hallé St Peter’s building in Ancoats, Manchester.

However, we also believe that there are lessons we can learn and that the well-known phrase ‘practice makes perfect’ can be applied to many areas of our businesses and personal lives!

The Hallé gave its first concert on 30th January 1858 under the baton of its founder Sir Charles Hallé. Today the players in the orchestra are among the finest in the world and have travelled from 14 different countries all over the world to work in Manchester.

Many teach at the Royal Northern College of Music and Chetham’s School of Music and other UK wide specialist Conservatoires and schools, playing and teaching in the wider community. All are involved in the Hallé’s concerts in the UK and overseas and are central to a huge community and outreach programme.

The Hallé St Peter’s building is a Grade 2 listed deconsecrated church which was built in 1859. By the time the Hallé acquired St Peter’s, the building had stood empty for decades and was in dire need of redeveloping and restoring to its former glory.  Circa £5m later, the outcome was quite spectacularly achieved.

CPS Manufacturing Co was chosen by the Hallé management team to take from concept to completion, the large bespoke designed tiered staging system that the orchestra perform on whilst playing at the venue.

Both the high quality integral scissor action Alu Combi integral and Alu Rapid staging products were used with a specified Karndean Victorian oak plank floor to complement the internal design and aesthetics of the building. Further information and images can be seen in the Hallé case study by clicking here

CPS Manufacturing Co have designed, manufactured and installed staging systems in a multitude of venues worldwide and systems can be found in extensive daily use from small primary schools and conference centres to large stadiums and VIP venues.
